2014 Hawaii Arbor Day Tour with TreeCircus

Elaine Malina’s (President of the Board of Directors Maui Green & Beautiful) comments on this Wonderful Event:

…the faces of the keiki (children) showed it all! Tim’s energy is non-stop and his tree passion is very contagious.

Researching, gathering information and introducing the TreeCircus and Maui Green & Beautiful to the schools and the Boys & Girls Club of the Maui Community was challenging but was well worth it. All the events were well attended and well received.

One of the highlights of the TreeCircus Tim Womick was when Tim came to Maui Green & Beautiful annual Malama (to care of) the Trees free educational workshop on the Saturday morning before his last TreeCircus event on Maui. The participants is a mix of tree professionals and community members assembled together to learn more about trees. Our guest speaker was our very own Maui tree expert Ernie Rezents, who in August will be awarded the ISA True Professional of Arboriculture Award. Tim was asked to speak at the end of the conference which ended before the TreeCircus event would have started at the Maui Mall shopping center. Tim just amazed everyone with his knowledge and passion of trees. The tree professionals who attended, realized that Tim was one of them and that Tim chose to spread his knowledge and “speak for the trees” thru the TreeCircus events! Some of them even showed up for the TreeCircus event at the Maui Mall!

TreeCircus held its third annual Hawaii Arbor Day Tour November 5-8, 2014 for local school children and the general public. The events engaged students with a rollicking, interactive show about the benefits of trees in our communities. This was the first event of its kind on Maui – it has only been held on Oahu in the past.

TreeCircus, the performing moniker of edu-tainer Timmy Womick, helps students understand how their local trees can lower the temperature and raise their spirits. Throughout assembly, participants learn about trees, the value of trees, and why we should plant more of them. Most importantly, the students learn how they can grow up to be arborists themselves!

This program is sponsored by the US Forest Service and the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, and is locally supported by the Aloha Arborist Association and Maui Green and Beautiful. Additional funding has been provided by the Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program of the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife; and State and Private Forestry, branch of the U.S. Forest Service, Department of Agriculture, Region 5 for educational materials, The Britton Fund for a third day of assemblies, and SGS Hawaii Inc Landscape for advertising.
